Special Educator/Special Teacher for Roma School Area
In Region Gotland, you can develop and grow, both as an individual and together with others. When you work with us, you contribute to making Gotland an even better place for people in all walks of life. We make each other better.
Roma School Area
The Roma school area is centrally located in Gotland, within comfortable commuting distance from Visby, with very good bus connections.
The Roma school area includes Romaskolan, which is a K-9 school, as well as K-6 schools in Vänge, Kräklingbo, Dalhem, and Endre. Students from these schools are transported to Romaskolan for instruction in various subjects.
Your Responsibilities
As a special educator/special teacher in the Roma school area, you will be part of a student health team together with three other special educators, a school social worker, a school nurse, a school psychologist, three assistant principals, and a principal. You will also be part of Region Gotland's network for special teachers and special educators. As a special teacher/special educator, you are responsible for challenging students to optimal learning based on their individual conditions.
You will plan, implement, and follow up on work in close collaboration with teachers. You will document students' development in the form of, for example, pedagogical mapping and action plans. This means that you will support teachers in how they can structure their teaching so that education becomes accessible, inclusive, and fosters participation for all students. In addition, you will lead the work of investigating the need for special support.
The work as a special teacher/special educator also means that you, together with the other three special educators in the Roma school area, have a shared responsibility for developing the special educational support in the school area.
In your role as a special teacher/special educator, you will also plan and implement support for students. Support teachers and mentors to enable learning environments that are promoting and preventive. You will map, investigate, and document the need for special support. You will collaborate within the special educational team in the Roma school area and cooperate with the teams for the different grade levels as well as the student health team.
Who Are You?
We are looking for someone who is a licensed special teacher or special educator. A B driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are required for the position.
As a special teacher/special educator, we hope you are proactive and stable, clear and structured, as well as quality-conscious. Experience in special educational work at the secondary school level is an advantage.
You have a genuine interest in ensuring that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential. We are looking for an engaged and flexible person who actively works to make the school accessible for all students. You have good collaboration skills and can create good relationships as the work involves many contact points with students, staff, and guardians. You create a good learning environment and are a qualified conversation partner for students, guardians, and colleagues. You enjoy working in a team while being able to plan and work independently. Since some students may exhibit challenging behavior, it is important that you have a low-arousal approach and can handle more pressured situations.
